Diabetes and pollution: another “external cost”

As those espousing conventional wisdom about diet and exercise continue to blame individual irresponsibility for the diabetes epidemic, researchers are showing that body burdens of DDE (a chemical produced as the body breaks down DDT), PCBs, and dioxins correlate strongly with diabetes. How big an offset to “profit” shall we make to account for this cost?
